Thurso Players was formed in 1950 following the closing of the Thurso Dramatic Society, Thurso Dramatic Club and earlier Caithness drama groups that can be traced back to the 1890s. Despite the logistical problems of finding rehearsal and performance spaces the Players thrived, and in 1959 founder member Robin Sinclair offered a building in the old mill complex - if they could make it safe and watertight, which eventually over two to three decades later they were able to.

In the absence of their usual Summer Exhibition in Thurso, The Society of Caithness Artists offer all artists with a Caithness connection an opportunity to exhibit with the Society as part of their on-line exhibition. The Society recognises the negative impact the present situation of galleries and exhibition closures has on individual artists so offer this alternative.

Caithness based artist Magi Sinclair is holding a solo exhibition for High Life Highland at the Thurso Gallery (situated within Thurso Library) from Saturday 12th October to Wednesday 6th November 2019. The exhibition entitled ‘From the Causewaymire' comprises 40 pieces - drawings, etchings and paintings - where she has taken inspiration from places and landmarks along the road from Latheron to Thurso.

IT'S GOING TO BE A ‘G'DAY' FOR INVERNESS AS EIGHT AUSTRALIAN BANDS SIGN UP FOR PIPING INVERNESS. Piping Inverness takes place next month, with over 140 bands competing, including eight Pipe Bands from Australia, one from the USA, and one from Switzerland.
