The Scottish Parliament's Culture, Tourism, Europe and External Relations Committee http://www.parliament.scot/parliamentarybusiness/CurrentCommittees/european-committee.aspx are conducting an inquiry into Scotland's TV and film industry. The Committee wants to look at ways to strengthen and develop the sector using recommendations from the Screen Sector Leadership Group's report.

Two lost dogs have been discovered and returned to their home at the Town House after decades in storage. The two stone dogs, which originally stood proudly on the top of the Town House, had been missing for many years, until by strange coincidence, within hours of the unveiling of the Town House, they mysteriously reappeared.

Join us for a performance by Hebrides Ensemble's Huw Watkins and some of the finest young musicians from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Acclaimed pianist and composer, Huw, will be joining RCS students as part of the Ensembles' Hebrides Academy programme, which offers expert coaching and performance opportunities to musicians and composers.

Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail (The Royal National Mòd) will return to Lochaber next month (Friday 13 October - Saturday 21 October 2017) for what's set to be a record-breaking year for the festival, with participant numbers expected to exceed 3,600 - the highest in a decade. The nine-day spectacular of Gaelic music, arts and sport will take place in Fort William for the first time in ten years and, this year, will welcome representatives from towns and cities that the Mòd hasn't seen in generations.

Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) has today announced Glasgow-born screenwriter Nicole Taylor as the new EIFF Screenwriter-in-Residence. The appointment will see Taylor receive a bursary of £7,500 and access to the four Edinburgh universities between now and June 2018, when the 72nd edition of the film Festival will take place.

Recently re-branded North Lands Creative (Formerly North Lands Creative Glass) has successfully completed a re-structuring and held an international conference ahead of an exciting new programme of activities. Located in the delightful village of Lybster, Caithness the organisation is planning a colourful, vibrant and engaging programme of workshops, classes and exhibitions on the Lybster campus, complimented by associated events that include bite-size tours, studio talks, curator/ artist in conversation events, workshops and schools visits.
In practically every town of any size there was a folk club packed with people enthusiastically joining in with the laughter and sing-a-long and music of the time. These days may have passed but the songs are still there, just very few people singing them.
An afternoon of Clarsach and Fiddle A performance by Harmony & Horsehair, local musicians George Pain (fiddle) and Susanne Lloyd-Jones (clarsach). Susanne Lloyd-Jones studied at Trinity College, London and followed a career in teaching and examining before moving to Caithness in 2014.
