The Flow Country: Opportunities for Artists
RSPB Scotland Deadline: 24 October 2016 at 09:00 The Flow Country is a rolling expanse of blanket bog in the far north of Scotland, of importance for the biodiversity it supports and of huge value as a carbon store. The Flows to the Future Project is a five year project that is restoring large areas of blanket bog that are currently afforested and also raising awareness and understanding of this special landscape.11/10/2016

North Coast Journey- Alternative Tourist Route - Debbie Lee
Debbie Lee An exhibition of textile art celebrating the special landscape along the north coast route from John O‘Groats to Ullapool ‘Throughout Scotland there are sign posts to direct travellers, ‘tourists', off the main route and onto an ‘Alternative Tourist Route'. The sign at John O’ Groats directing people to Ullapool using the north coast is both inspiring and to me amusing.

A showcasing of Caithness craft through the work of Andrew Bunn, Alice Calder, Lindsey Gallacher, Ian Giles, Jenny Mackenzie Ross, Kelly Munro, Patricia Niemann and Joanne B Kaar. You will be able to view beautifully crafted jewellery, worked Caithness stone and beach finds, ceramic sculptures, pottery and porcelain, glass, wooden and woven objects, finding pieces you might be familiar with as well as being surprised by unusual, more daring works.

STORIES FROM HERE AND THERE - 28th October 2016
As part of The Portskerra Storytelling International Festival, local storyteller Alexandria Patience presents "Stories from here and there" - a mix of traditional Scottish stories given an extra twist with live original music by Donald McNeill. They are joined by Mexican storyteller Ruben Corbett who has performed at some of the most prestigious arts festivals across Latin America as well as Europe and brings us some storytelling warmth (narrated in English) all the way from Mexico to Lyth Arts Centre.

After leaving high school in England, he was accepted into the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston and after graduating, he seized an opportunity to move to Los Angeles to work as a professional musician.
BIRLINN JIARG - 29th October 2016
A good chance for families and their youngsters to spend Saturday afternoon sharing the fun of hearing live music indoors and, if it's not too cold, running around in a safe outdoor space. Birlinn Jiarg was founded by multi-instrumentalist Beccy Hurst and performs the traditional Manx music she grew up with plus new compositions.

Zombie Prom The Musical by Thurso Players
Mill Theatre, Thurso Wednesday 21st - Saturday 24th 2016 Act I Zombie Prom opens at Enrico Fermi High School. The students go through their daily routine ("Enrico Fermi High") and the audience meets Jonny, a rebel who spells his name without the traditional 'H.' We also meet the good-girl heroine, Toffee, and Miss Strict, the principal of Enrico Fermi High School.

Caithness Orchestra 2016 course - Performance Sunday 7th August 2016
Over the past few days 4 - 7th August 2016, there has been a flurry of musical activity in Halkirk as they put together Tchaikovsky's epic 5th Symphony. The orchestra has warmly welcomed visiting players, from as far a-field as Iceland and Cumbria, into their ranks.

An evening of Scottish music featuring composer Ronald Stevenson We welcome a return visit to Lyth by Christopher Guild, a young Scottish pianist, graduate of the Royal College of Music, London and champion of Scottish composer Ronald Stevenson. Ronald Stevenson is probably the last truly great pianist and composer of his generation.
