'ARD ROCKIN' In Wick!
12th December 2002
Caithness Drugs and Alcohol Forum are delighted with the positive response to their recent 'ARD ROCK event. (5th December in Wick High School hall).
'ARD (Awareness Raising on Drugs & Alcohol) ROCK brought over 450 young people together, to participate in an event that included a big prize quiz based around material on the various drug & alcohol information displays manned by the professionals in attendance. There were free prize draws & give-aways, and the added attraction of a plethora of young local talent performing on the main stage throughout the evening. Moray Firth Radio broadcast its evening show live from the midst of the action, and interviewed bands, artistes and representatives from the sponsors and others during the course of the event.
The concept of 'ARD ROCK is to take an innovative approach to the context used to present drug and alcohol issues to young people. This is the third such event that the local forum has run using this pioneering framework, and 'ARD ROCK has gone from strength to strength as evidenced by the response from the young people, adults, professionals and agencies involved.
A few photos of the event can be found here.
Sponsors of 'ARD ROCK, presented by Caithness Drugs & Alcohol Forum, were:
UKAEA, Northern Constabulary, NHS Highland, & Highland Council.
Thank you to the bands and artists appearing - NE1, Marelle Sturrock, Shanty Moses, Jamie Riddle, Acid Inc., Duress, Storm, TBA.
