The heirs and great-grandchildren of Jewish Belgian art collector Samuel Hartveld are set to receive a painting by Henry Gibbs currently in the collection of the Tate. Hartveld and his wife fled Belgium prior to the German occupation during the Second World War, leaving behind their most treasured possessions.

Gaelic language broadcasting is to receive an additional £1.8 million to help build on the success of BBC Alba's crime thriller An t-Eilean. The increase is contained in the Scottish Government's 2025/26 Budget and raises total funding for MG ALBA (the Gaelic Media Service) to £14.8 million in the upcoming financial year.

Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye is to be a Gaelic hub in the new Centre for Teaching Excellence, Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth has announced during a visit to the college. The Cabinet Secretary met with staff at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, during a visit to discuss the aims of the new Centre in providing opportunities for Gaelic teachers across the country.

Staff working in galleries, libraries, archives and museums around the UK will soon be able to ask The National Archives for help funding community-led research projects, following a generous £1 million award by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The project, known as Spaces, Places and Belonging, will help a wider range of people engage with cultural organisations.

Growing up immersed within a Folk music background in Edinburgh, Kate Young has emerged as one Scotland's most innovative composers and musicians. Her recently released album, Umbelliferæ, is largely inspired by plantlore and the traditional uses of wildflowers from across the UK.
Cocoon is a collaborative textile installation and sharing of work, showcasing work co- created by a group of women in Caithness, in collaboration with artist Laura O'Kane. The exhibition presents a collection of silk scarves designed during the 2024 Caithness Community Artist in Residence programme, led by Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) in partnership with Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH).
