5th March 2006
Your are invited to come to
"Teaching Artists' Day"
This event is free to attend!
Wednesday 22nd March 2006
At: La Tortilla Asesina, Castle St,Inverness
Time: 11.00am to 3.00pm - Coffees, Tapas Lunch and Refreshments provided.
As a celebration of the end of Artsplay Phase 2, I would like to ask artists, musicians, drama workers and dancers who teach, workshop and are active in the community to come along to the day to discuss various issues that have arisen during the course of ArtsPlay and are relevant to everyone working in the community.
The rights of the teaching artist have come up again and again, and I feel that there is a need for, at least, a debate on some of the issues - which include rates of pay, training, research, residencies, self-development, funding etc. I feel that there is a need to acknowledge the work of everyone who commits time and energy to their community and to find a way to do this.
The timetable for the day is:
11.00am: Coffees and Introduction to the purpose of the day
11.30am: Association of Teaching Artists - New York - the model and its' principles
12.00pm: Open debate
12.30pm: Joanne Kaar: Training and the artist and discussion
1.00pm Lunch - Tapas
2.00pm: Alpha Munro: Research in the Highlands and discussion
2.30pm: Rates of pay and status, register of artists - open debate
3.00pm: Close
I hope you can come to the day, everyone's input is valuable. I'm not sure where it will lead to, but feel it is a starting point.
