Caithness Cultural Trust New Web Site

2nd August 2005

The Caithness Cultural Trust is forging ahead with it plans to develop an Arts Centre in the hear of Pulteneytown. As part of their quest to raise the profile of the group formed in Devcember 2003 they have now launched a web site with information about the group and their ambitious plans for one of the buildings in Telford Street. The aim is to build a centre for the Arts including a wide range of disciplines - Visual Arts, Dance, Film, Music Poetry and Crafts. The multi purpose centre would aim to be a centre of excellence in Art and Design. The group is run by volunteers who have formed a company limited by guarantee. The former herring packing station in Telford Street has seen a number of uses and was last used by Fountain Forestry and is currently owned by Highland Council.

The building is in Telford Street and is in the Lower Pulteney regenration area and it is hoped that this will enable the new group to attract some of the funding to restore the building and adapt it to a modern function and provide a real asset to both the arts community and the local population.
