Marigold Stewart the author of Kenny's Bairns is from a big family and was brought up in rural Caithness. Her new book Kenny's Bairns give an insight into many aspects or rural life in an area of the far north of Scotland. We caught up with her at her launch of the book at the Caithness County Show where she was based for the two days selling the book.
Despite her enromous range of activites and always turning to new activities including travel around the globe she still resides in Caithness.
Despite being a keen cyclist - she has been all over the country cycling - she has still found time to write this new book. When she is not writing or cycling she can be found hard at work in her garden.
The 8 children who are the central people in the book were know locally as Kenny's Bairns and it is a book of memories of a bygone age with thatched roofs, open peat fires, washing boards, box irons, oil lamps, chamber pots and no water or electricity.
If you are interested in buying a copy of this book you better move quickly as it has only had a limited print run. To get more details and to contact the author go to her web site at http://kennysbairns.vpweb.co.uk
