The North Highland Archive (Caithness) is based in Wick Library. For the summer months, archivist Gail Inglis will be hosting a monthly session at Caithness Horizons in Thurso, enabling those on the west side of the county to dip into the vast resource.
Caithness Horizons Education and Community Officer, Christine Russell, urges people to take advantage of the rare opportunity to see valuable local documents outside their usual archive environment.
'The North Highland Archive is a fantastic collection, representing a huge and colourful overview of Caithness' distant and not-so-distant past. Anyone can come into Caithness Horizons and check the index archive resources available for items they might like to see first-hand. Gail will do her best to take those items, along with some of her choice, through to Thurso on the specified days, and the public can see them at their leisure. Caithness Horizons staff will be happy to pass on requests, or people can book an appointment directly with Gail.
