Paperworks Kicks Off New Season Of Craft Workshops At Castletown
2nd April 2008
Paperworks kicks off a new season of craft workshops in the Castlehill Centre, Castletown, Caithness.
Set in an inspirational location next to Castlehill harbour and Dunnet beach, the recently refurbished, all purpose venue, of Castletown Heritage Society, has proved to be a winning formula, as local artist, Joanne B Kaar, is making the most of the new facilities for her 2008 craft skills workshops 'Paper Scissors Stone'. These will include - silkpaper making, arty bookbinding, pulp papermaking and Chinese stone carving (personal stamp).
The workshops are all at weekends, and aimed at adults. No previous experience required, and all materials provided. There will be 4 one-day workshops on offer. As there is a maximum of 12 participants per day, booking well in advance is advised. Workshops start in April.
Joanne's talents are much in demand throughout Scotland and beyond, regularly running educational workshops for the 'National Library of Scotland' in Edinburgh. As part of their 2007 Highland Year of Culture programme, Muriel Murray, Chairwoman of the Castletown Heritage Society, organised a very successful series of workshops with, Joanne, as lead artist alongside rope maker, Tim Johnson from the Isle of Wight. These workshops for 2008 build on the success of the 2007 events and the location as an inspirational setting.
