Sunday 20th April 08 - Silkpaper making
Make your own silkpaper using hand-dyed silk fibre in brilliant colours. Add threads, ribbons and feathers for that exotic touch. I will demonstrate how to dye silk fibre using direct dye. Your silkpapers will take 24 hours to dry at home. These papers can be used for book covers/collage/hand and machine stitching when dry. There will be plenty of time to experiment with your ideas throughout the day. Invented in the 1970's by Dutch fibre artist, silkpaper making is not a traditional method of papermaking it's much easier!! 35pp

Sunday 4th May 08 - Arty Bookbinding
During this workshop you will learn 4 different styles of bookbinding: Stab-stitching, Single section binding, multi-section binding and origami style books.
Unlike most books you can buy, yours will include many types of papers, perfect for those who like to sketch but don't want to carry an armful of different sketchbooks!
I'll have a selection of good quality machine made papers for the pages (eg watercolour, cartridge, pastel), and a variety of decorative papers and book-cloth for covers of your books. For the binding we'll be using waxed linen thread for the multi-section books with opportunity to be more individual choosing from paper string and ribbons to bind the stab-stitch and single-section books. 35pp
Sunday 11th May 08 - Chinese stone carving
You will be able to carve you own 'seal' (personal stamp) from stone using a traditional wooden vice and chisel from Taiwan, then print your designs with brilliant red cinnabar ink on traditional paper. So you can continue to enjoy your 'seal' stone carving, you will each receive a small container of the cinnabar ink to take away!
Paper has many purposes in Taiwan, some are practical (recycled paper boxes), others are religious (ghost money). All have a simple beauty. You'll learn much more about these. Make your own grass-hoppers, and listen to Taiwan Music to get you in the mood. 35pp
