The Ultimate Chill Ends Summer Season
Returning to the Caird Hall on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2007, The Ultimate Chill - Dundee's premier music, arts and dance festival will bring together a wealth of the UK's most talented musicians, artists, poets and dancers for the eighth year in a row.
Highlights over the weekend will include headline performances from Dundee's own alt country heroes The Hazey Janes alongside hotly tipped all girl rockers The Hedrons, who will both arrive in Dundee fresh from stints touring in the USA.
Says The Hazey Janes, Andrew Mitchell. "We're in the middle of finishing our second album at the minute and generally not touring but we it is very important to us to support events in Dundee. The music scene here is very healthy so we're pleased to be part of the Ultimate Chill, especially because of its involvement with new artists".
The Hedrons bassist, Gill Hedrons added, "We are really excited to be playing this year's event and will give it a good rocking! Playing in Scotland has always been special to us because we're really attached to this place and it's where we take much of our inspiration from. Dundee is yet another Scottish city centre that has a booming music scene and we can't wait to be part of that. The songwriting work shop will be great fun as well because we really enjoy interacting with our audience and fellow musicians alike."
Joining The Hedrons and Hazey Janes on stage will be the two finalists for the annual Ultimate Chill Best Band Competition. The competition began by unearthing local Tayside talent but in more recent years has expanded, and the competition format now allows entries from all over Scotland.
Says Festival Coordinator Andy Lainson, "We are delighted to bring The Ultimate Chill back to Dundee for the 8th year running. The event has established itself as one of the most exciting in the Scottish festival calendar, having continuously supported homegrown talent from a grass roots level. There is no other festival line-up quite as varied and diverse as ours, particularly when you consider the relatively young age most of our performers and participants are. This year should prove to be the best yet."
The Ultimate Chill began eight years ago as a school project and has grown organically year on year to become Dundee's premier arts event, having attracted over 3000 people during last year's Ultimate Chill cycle.
