Caithness Arts Week - Atlantic Forest 2
11th September 2006
A Scotia Review Event
Britannia Hall, Dunnet is the venue for an evening of original local art for the whole family. Gordon and George Gunn will reprise their Spring performance of 'Atlantic Forest', in which fiddle and voice explore topical themes of globalisation, environmental chaos, and world politics. Starting on Dunnet Head and reaching out to connect the folk of Caithness to those of Brazil and - prophetically - the Middle East, this work will move you and galvanise you, as a citizen of the planet, to consider the part we each play in shaping the future.
The evening will start with a performance by pupils of Crossroads Primary School, who will work with George, Gordon and David Hunter from Eden Court Theatre on themes related to 'Atlantic Forest'.
To complete the evening, a family ceilidh with music by Gordon Gunn, Brian MacAlpine and Addie Harper, to get everybody on their feet and dancing.
Scotia Review intends to make a DVD of 'Atlantic Forest'.
Reviews of the three books will appear on Scotia review's website, which will be launched to coincide with Arts Week.
