Come see "one of the finest ensembles of its kind in the world today" (BBC Music Magazine) in Thurso!
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) will return to Thurso High School for a wonderful evening of live music, featuring SCO Principal Clarinet Maximiliano Martín as soloist.
WHEN
Friday 9 June - Thurso High School, 8pm
WHAT
GREIG - Holberg Suite, Op 40
CRUSELL - Clarinet Concerto No 2 in F minor
LARSSON - Pastoral Suite, Op 19
SCHUBERT - Symphony No 3 in D
There's a distinct Scandinavian flavour to this sunny, lyrical programme from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. The Norwegian Edvard Grieg created a tribute to the 17th century playwright Holberg when writing his delightful Suite. Finn Bernard Crusell’s Romantic Clarinet Concerto will be a joy in the hands of SCO Principal Clarinet Maximiliano Martín. Lars-Erik Larsson was a cornerstone of Swedish musical life in the early twentieth century and his Pastoral Suite is inspired by poetry. The concert closes with Schubert’s joyful Third Symphony.
