6th August 2016
Over the past few days 4 - 7th August 2016, there has been a flurry of musical activity in Halkirk as they put together Tchaikovsky's epic 5th Symphony. The orchestra has warmly welcomed visiting players, from as far a-field as Iceland and Cumbria, into their ranks. They are spending four days under the professional baton of Susie Dingle and the expert coaching of Katrina Gordon.
This is an amazing opportunity for players to get their teeth into this famous large scale work.
The orchestra is working extremely hard on this and while there is no formal concert, there is one last run-through, which will be open for anyone who is interested in hearing the final product. This performance will be at 4.00pm on Sunday 7th Aug, in the Ross Institute in Halkirk. Come along and we think you will enjoy a performance put together in 4 days although most musicians have been practising over the past few weeks on their own.
About one hour of music.
They are hoping to make this an annual event, so if you or anyone you know would enjoy playing in a relaxed and productive atmosphere in the course next year, please get in touch with Susie or Katrina on the Caithness Symphony Orchestra Facebook page.
