If you are a player of traditional music and want a chance to improve then here is yet another chance in Caithness. but the day long class is open to anyone and increasingly people are coming from further afield for the chance to have a day with the professionals.
The increasingly popular Traditional Music Workshops run by Gordon Gunn and Co in Caithness will be run on 18 February 2006 at the Ross Institute in Halkirk.
The workshops have given local musicians a chance to get tuition from some of the professional tradional music experts in Scotland.
Halkirk Will See The First Dance Of the Group
This is something new for the Traditional Music Group who have concentrated on tuition but as Scottish Dancing is proving popular with young and old in the County the group thought they would plan to have a traditional Scottish Dance in the evening where families will be welcome. Should be a great night.
Included in the line up of tutors at Halkirk are -
Gavin Marwick - Fiddle
Experienced tutor and fiddle player with Iron Horse and the Unusual Suspects.
Alison Smith - Fiddle
Fiddle player with the Black Rose Ceilidh Band and with John Carmichael Band on many Grampian TV shows.
Brian McAlpine - Group Work
Keyboard/Accordion with Session A9 and the Unusual Suspects.
The cost for the day is �25 or �20 for anyone under 16
