"BEAT THE DRUM"

Runrig are delighted to announce that the full line-up has now been confirmed for their outdoor show at Loch Ness on Saturday August 18th.

Titled "Beat The Drum", the concert takes place on the shores of Loch Ness at Borlum Farm, Drumnadrochit. Joining Runrig are the following artists:
Vatersay Boys, Julie Fowlis, Great Big Sea, Aberfeldy, Wolfstone, Red Hot
Chilli Pipers

Julie Fowlis has already played every major music festival in the UK and recently walked away with BBC Radio 2's Folk Singer of the Year Award 2007. The first ever Scottish Gaelic singer to receive such a prestigious award she is now winning audiences across the globe.

As for Great Big Sea, they actually come from the other side of the globe. A huge band in their native Canada, Juno Award nominees Great Big Sea fuse Newfoundland traditional music with modern pop. They have released eight albums to date and their heartfelt melodic songs are played with a distinct folk edge on such instruments as bodhran, mandolin, fiddle and concertina.

Edinburgh indie pop band Aberfeldy formed in 2002 and have gone from strength to strength ever since. They've toured all over the world, supported the likes of REM, Scissor Sisters, Blondie and Paulo Nutini and recently had their single "Summer's Gone" taken up as the new diet coke advert in the USA and Canada.

Scottish rock band Wolfstone have already clocked up two gold albums and have headlined many festivals to a large and loyal following. It's very timely that they should support Runrig at Loch Ness since it was their support slot at Runrig's legendary Loch Lomond concert which kick-started their career.

The Vatersay Boys comprise a five piece band who play 'traditional music with passion' and are already making quite a name for themselves while the Red Hot Chilli Pipers can justifiably claim to have bagpipes with attitude and drums with a Glaswegian accent! Opening the show will be the winners of the Moray Firth Radio competition to find best new local band - details to be announced shortly.

"Beat The Drum" falls within Highland 2007 - the year Scotland celebrates Highland Culture. It is very apt that Runrig, a cultural phenomenon in their own right, should be at the heart of it all - a testament to their unique contribution for over three decades to Gaelic and Highland music. Prior to Loch Ness, Runrig release a new studio album on May 14th titled "Everything You see".
