The 2005 - 2006 Season Of Concerts
After a few years of absence Thurso Live Music Association is pleased to welcome Scottish Opera-go-round to begin the season with a touring production of Verdi's Macbeth. Highlighting young up-and-coming singers this will launch the programme with high drama backed by an innovative stage setting.
The Saxophone player Carole Sutherland and Scott Mitchell have perfromed in Thurso before outwith our season. We have invited them together with a string quartet known as the 'Ariga Ensemble' to give a varied and dynamic prgramme for this unusual group of instruments.
For the first time we are pleased to present a guitar quartet, 'The Aquarelle', to give a different and exciting evening of music.
The young Welsh pianist Llr williams is much in demend and in August he will be playing the Schumann piano concerto at this year's Promenade concerts.
For the Christmas Party we have three singers of 'Prima diva'. They may be remebered for their very entertaining conceet which they gave in Thurso High School in April 2004.
'Thistle Brass', a young group of enthusiastic players will perform in Thurso West church. this venue has been chosen because Thurso High School will be unavailable at this time.
'Configure 8' will perfomr the beautiful Dvorak quintet for string quartet and double bass. Amongst the folk tune themed concert will be some unusual music by Brazilain composers
Having previously played for us with Mr McFall's chamber we are pleased to invite Fali Pavri to return with his cellist wife Naomi Boole-Masterson to give duos and solos including a work by the Indian composer John Mayer.
