The Sleeping Beauty - by Dave Buchanan
Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th December
Performed By Thurso Players At Thurso High School.

Thurso Players have a hectic rehearsal schedule in preparation for their Pantomime performance of 'The Sleeping Beauty' by Dave Buchanan. The Pantomime, directed by Andrew Crawford, (the youngest Pantomime Director in the history of Thurso Players) will mark a return to the traditional style with, among other things the Principal Boy's part played by a girl, (Donna Swanson).

The Princess Melody, daughter of King Willy and Queen Dilly of Kirkonia, is cursed at her Christening by the evil witch 'Grotty the Grim'. Aided by her wicked henchmen, Mouldy and Skull, she tricks the Princess into taking a turn at the spinning wheel. As the Princess pricks her finger the whole court is thrown into a deep sleep. Of course there's always a hero, Prince Charlie, who saves the day and the show wouldn't be complete without the amply proportioned Nurse Merryweather and her two feckless sons, Wills and Harry. They also manage to fit in the X-Factor and a fight with a fire breathing Dragon but I daren't tell you more, you'll just have to go along and see the show to find out what happens.

The Pantomime runs at Thurso High School from Tuesday 12th to Saturday 16th December starting at 7:30pm each evening and with a Matinee performance at 2:00pm on the Saturday afternoon. Tickets are priced at 7.00 7 5.00 (Concessions) and can be booked through MacBeath Jewellers, Traill Street, Thurso from 21st November.
Block bookings for schools, clubs and organisations are still being taken; call Susan on 01847-892634 for a booking form. Remember, there's no Eden Court Pantomime this year so demand is likely to be high. Don't leave it too late as it may not be possible to take large bookings after 21st November.

Grotty the Grim (Jacqui Barclay) menaces the Princess Melody, (Donna Douglas) King Willy, (Eric Maughan) and Queen Dilly (Sue Rankine) until Prince Charlie (Donna Swanson) steps in to perhaps save the day?

The Birthday Party is about Stanley Webber, an erstwhile piano player in his 30s, who lives in a run down boarding house, run by Meg and Petey Boles, in an English seaside town, probably on the south coast, not too far from London.  Two sinister strangers, Goldberg and McCann, who arrive supposedly on his birthday and who appear to have come looking for him, turn Stanleys apparently innocuous birthday party organised by Meg into a nightmare.
