HARMONY and HORSEHAIR JULY 16, 2017
13th July 2017
An afternoon of Clarsach and Fiddle
A performance by Harmony & Horsehair, local musicians George Pain (fiddle) and Susanne Lloyd-Jones (clarsach).
Susanne Lloyd-Jones studied at Trinity College, London and followed a career in teaching and examining before moving to Caithness in 2014. Having taken up the Clarsach in 2015, she travels regularly to play with the Clarsach Society in Edinburgh and Inverness and has recently been invited to join both the committee of the Highland Branch and the executive committee of the Clarsach Society.
Originally an engineer, George Pain is well known both as the leader of the Thurso Strathspey & Reel Society and as a local fiddle teacher. The couple met at the Castle of Mey when they were asked to perform for American guests.
Harmony & Horsehair have performed locally at birthday celebrations, garden parties and as part of National Chamber Music Day in September 2016. Further afield, they have played to great acclaim in Dornoch Cathedral, St Giles, High Kirk, Edinburgh and as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.
