Spectrum at St Fergus Gallery, Wick
14th May 2016
Visit Spectrum, an exhibition of screen prints by an Edinburgh artist Catherine Sargeant.
Catherine graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a 1st class BA(Hons) in Drawing and Painting and she became the first recipient of WASPS new graduate award. Along with her art practice Catherine also teaches at Leith School of Art and is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists.
Catherine finds the inherent beauty of words fascinating, especially as we are saturated with text and communication in every aspect of our lives. The artist aims to take this and create works that will simultaneously calm and question the viewer. She often works in series on various scales and surfaces.
The Spectrum series takes quotes from various famous artists about colour and have been created using a hand blending screen print technique, this process only allows small editions, in this an edition of 7 were produced.
The exhibition will be shown in the St Fergus Foyer Gallery from 13th May to 11th June 2016.

Under the Microscope activities and When I grow up exhibition
St Fergus Gallery and the Science 03 are delighted to invite you and your friends to visit the gallery to use a microscope to get a closer look at various objects and project the images onto a big wall. There will be a good selection of objects you can use but feel free to bring some of your own - be it feathers, sea shells or even a wing of a butterfly.
