Australian concert pianist Tristan Lee is visiting the Highlands over the summer with solo recitals and chamber performances taking place in various locations. He is joined by Thurso musicians Karen Anderson (Clarinet) and Della Hickey (Viola) for two chamber recitals in Dornoch Cathedral on Thursday 12 July and Lyth Arts Centre on Friday 13 July when they will perform works by Mozart and Bruch (trio), and Beethoven and Liszt (solo).

Tristan Lee gained a Master of Music Performance (with Distinction) from the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester) in 2009, having graduated the year before with a Bachelor of Music (First-class honours) from the University of Melbourne, where he was Musician in Residence and Music Tutor at St Hilda's College.

Since making his London debut at the Wigmore Hall in 2009, he has been enjoying a busy performing schedule internationally. Recent engagements include performances in England, Wales, Scotland, Italy, Lithuania, France, the Netherlands, Cuba and Australia.

Highlights for 2011 included a tour of the UK with his piano trio (consisting of Icelandic violinist, Eva Thorarinsdottir and Dutch cellist, Joris van den Berg) which culminated in a recital at London's Wigmore Hall in October; in December he was the soloist in a performance of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto with the Northumberland Symphony Orchestra in Newcastle.

Karen Anderson attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she studied with Lewis Morrison and John Cushing. She won the Glasgow Society of Music Prize for Woodwind in 1990 and went on to freelance extensively in Scotland before returning to Caithness in 2001 to begin her post as Woodwind and Brass Instructor for the schools of Caithness.

Della Hickey attended Trinity College of Music in London, where she studied with Vera Kantrovich and benefited from coaching by Manoug Parikian and Emanuel Hurwitz. Upon leaving Trinity, she returned to Manchester and under the mentorship of John Adams she freelanced for several years. In 2004 she took up her post as Strings Instructor for Caithness Schools and combines her teaching with playing for the Cruiteran String Quartet.
