10th January 2006

Photograph of Graham Maharg From Scarfskerry Launches First Album

After spending several years living and working in Cornwall Graham and his family moved to Scarfskerry Caithness to start their own smalholding. They keep a variety of animals on the croft including a small group of water buffalo that seeem to be right at home in the north - maye something to do with our wet climate.

Today Graham works the smallholding and with the many various animals that come with it as well as writing and composing his songs.

"I have written stories and lymrics and poems for a number of years for fun only in the last 2 or 3 years since arriving in Scotland have I really written seriously. The peace and beauty of the place mixed with the every day joy and strife of running a smallholding seem strangely inspiring."

Graham has now produced his first album in cooperation with Addie Harper Jr on guitars. Graham sings and supplies the keyboard backing for his songs which have a haunting characteristic aand make for easy listening curled up with a glass of wine or a wee dram on cold Caithness night.

The CD is on sale in local music shops in Wick and Thurso or direct from
