The Pentland Hotel, Thurso. 17th April 2003 8.00pm
Bill Jones returns to tour in Spring 2003 after her recent international performances in USA, Japan and Holland. Bill on vocals, piano, accordion, flute and whistles is joined by Sarah on flute, whistle, bodhran and harmony vocals. Sarah is a recent graduate from York University, and has appeared with the Kathryn Tickell Band. Bill (Belinda) Jones's Horizon Award as Best Newcomer at the 2001 Radio 2 Folk Awards confirmed the arrival of a major new British talent. She has been thrilling audiences with her amazing soulful voice and live sets featuring slow songs to tug at the heart, lively tunes to tap feet to, and tales to enthrall. Bill and Sarah will draw on material recorded by Bill on her two CD's Turn to Me (2000) and Panchpuran (2001), as well as performing several new song and tune arrangements. Both Bill's CDs have gained huge acclaim for their interpretation of traditional material, with a contemporary twist. Performances by Bill and Sarah, far from being just for folk aficionados, attract fans from all genres, and will ensure a magical evening for audiences of all ages.

Harem Scarem + support
The Pentland Hotel, Thurso. 15th May 2003 8.00pm
'Harem Scarem is a band full of bright personalities and their music reflects this. An all-acoustic line-up, their instruments include 2 fiddles, 2 flutes, accordion, guitar and percussion, as well as succulent vocals! Played with great depth and energy, an uplifting choice of tunes is intertwined with traditional and self-penned songs. The combination of styles and influences in the band has led to a powerfully seductive sound.'

It seems like ages since Tich Frier's visit on the 12th of August, and a grand night of song and laughter it was too! It was satisfying to find the wee man on great form and in good health, following his skirmish with the Big C.   But now, for your delectation: "COCKERSDALE" SATURDAY, 24TH SEPTEMBER 8:00 PM PENTLAND HOTEL,THURSO, SUPPORTED BY "CLAPSHOT" This is a night not to be missed, not necessarily because Clapshot are performing outside their usual haunt of the Commercial Bar, Thurso, but because we have one of England's top harmony groups making a rare appearance in Scotland.
