Add your event to the Highland 2007 programme!

24th January 2007

With Highland 2007 now well underway, event organisers are being encouraged to make the most of Scotland's year of Highland culture.

Highland 2007 is calling on organisers planning events to add them to the programme for the year ahead. Events celebrating the rich culture of the Highlands and Islands will be integrated with many hundreds of events already shown on the Highland 2007 website www.highland2007.com to encourage visitors to the area next year.

Where possible, events shown on the website will be added to the printed programme for Highland 2007. The second edition of the Highland 2007 programme, covering events between 1 May and 30 June, will be launched before Easter. To be considered for inclusion in this edition of the programme, full details of events taking place between 1 May and 30 June 2007 must be entered using the online form by 7 February 2007.

As a result of a partnership with Highlands and Islands Enterprise and HI-Arts, all events entered via the Highland 2007 website will be included on both the Highland 2007 and the HI-Arts event database, meaning organisers need only enter their event on one or other site.

Alison Bell, marketing and communications manager for Highland 2007, said: "The Highland 2007 programme of events is being issued in four parts. The first edition covering the period January to April has been a great success and we want to ensure all events for May and June are included in the next edition which will be distributed to households throughout the Highlands and Islands.

"We want to hear from event organisers throughout the area who would like to be included in the programme. By including as many events celebrating Highland culture in 2007 as possible, everyone will see just how much is taking place in the Highlands and Islands in 2007 and why this is a great place to live and to visit!

"With the number of events within the Highland 2007 programme already running into the hundreds, we really need event organisers to come to us with full details of their events to add to the database. All events fulfilling the criteria will be added to the database and, while the inclusion of all events cannot be guaranteed for the printed programme,
we will include as many as possible."

The Highland 2007 programme features events spread across the six strands of culture: arts, language, science, environment, heritage and sport with something to suit all tastes. Events are being added to the programme on an ongoing basis, check the website now for an up to date listing www.highland2007.com

For even more coverage send articles about your Caitrhness or Sutherland event to bill[AT]caithness.org for inclusion in this section. In addition add you event to the Caithness.org what's On by completing the online form in the What's On section.

Wick High School pupils are also looking to publish a leafelt for Highland 2007 and a web site for local events as part of their Media Studies course so make sure you let them know when they begin to ask for events.

So if you get organised you can have you event on at least four web sites and be included in two publications if you are lucky.
