Creative Scotland Awards Regular Funding To Regional Screen Scotland

Creative Scotland has awarded Regional Screen Scotland a second round of Regular Funding, for the period April 2018 to March 2021. Over that three year period, Creative Scotland intends to provide a total grant of £620,350 to RSS. This is the full amount which we requested, and is slightly less than the amount we were awarded for the first round, from 2015-18.

Creative Scotland's assessment of our application concluded that RSS is ‘An extremely important organisation of significant strategic impact and potential.' This award also secures £75,000 of continued funding over this same period from Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Taken together, these funding awards will ensure the ongoing full operation of the Screen Machine service, and will also enable RSS to deliver a three year programme of cinema development, pursuing our aim to enable more people, in more places, to share great screen experiences. This programme, under the banner Your Cinema, Your Community, will be launched in April.

Screen Machine is an 80-seat air conditioned, digital mobile cinema which brings the latest films to rural area of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Screen Machine regularly tours to more than 40 communities, and spends between one and four days in each place. It takes approximately 10-12 weeks to complete one tour.
