BLAS-festival presents CLAN 6 September 7.30pm Mary Ann Kennedy, Kenna Campbell, Wilma Kennedy and Maggie Macdonald are four of the most distinguished Gaelic singers of our age, all Mod medal winners and well known throughout Scotland.  They are joined by musicians Angus, Kenneth and Calum Mackenzie who hail from Mabou in Cape Breton, a community rich in Gaelic tradition and language, to create an evening of great music.

"FaceNorth" visual arts residency run by Northlands Glass and Lyth Arts Centre is now up and running and going from strength to strength.  The residency, funded by the Scottish Arts Council and Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise agency, offers the opportunity for local community groups with little or no arts skills to engage with professional artists Kate Williams, Shelagh Swanson and Alistair Pender over the coming months.

'The Design Element' - Northlands Creative Glass International Conference
3RD-4TH SEPTEMBER 2005 For the ninth successive year it's the season when artists and professionals from all over the world converge on The Alastair Pilkington Studio in Lybster for a series of masterclasses and a weekend conference that is now a must in the contemporary glass calendar.  This year the theme is 'The Design Element', a topic which features strongly in 21st century life everywhere from sports equipment to home decoration and of course glass.

Glass artists from seven countries yesterday concluded the first of a summer programme of master classes at North Lands Creative Glass in the village of Lybster led by Klaus Moje, one of the key figures in contemporary studio glass.   The class - "Finding New Horizons" - explored kilnforming with techniques such as fusing, bending and mold-making and also extensive use of cold-working methods.
