The membership of the steering committee comprised Tom Bryan, Arts Development Officer (Caithness), Katrina Gordon, Chair, Caithness Arts, Eann Sinclair, Head of Projects, Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise and William Wilson, Director, Lyth Arts Centre.

CLORE DUFFIELD FOUNDATION �1 Million Over Five Years Available Grants of up to �10,000 are available to fund education programmes that cover every aspect of the performing arts including opera, dance, music, musical theatre, the spoken word and theatre. The funding which is being made available through the Clore Duffield Foundation's Small Grants programme is open to both professional and amateur arts organisations, including schools.
After spending several years living and working in Cornwall Graham and his family moved to Scarfskerry Caithness to start their own smalholding. They keep a variety of animals on the croft including a small group of water buffalo that seeem to be right at home in the north - maye something to do with our wet climate.

North Highland College HNC Acting & Performance students present a piece of devised theatre called 'Its these years of being��' the material was inspired by the work of American Poet Richard Brautigan(1935-1984). Brautigan who lived in San Francisco became an integral part of the mid- 60's scene and was part of the beat movement.
Caithness Quilters held another successful exhibition and coffee morning for charity on Saturday morning. Raffle tickets will shortly be on sale for a quilt.
Saturday 10th December 8pm "RED FISH" is an exciting new development for Grey Coast Theatre Company as it is the first time the company has been awarded a Scottish Arts Council music commission which has enabled long term Grey Coast musical collaborator Andy Thorburn (of Blazin' Fiddles etc.) to write music for the company well ahead of the pressure of production. "RED FISH" is the unbelievable story of a Klondike in the north, of a small town which literally blows up.
Caithness band Crimson Tide will launch their new CD on 10 December at the Redwood in Thurso. Making a night of it they have two other local bands Boss Hogg & Cyanide joining them for a gig.

Ross Records are releasing three CDs featuring a total of seventy tracks of accordion, fiddle and pipe music recorded by the late Bobby Coghill. The series is entitled "Bobby Coghill - Memories" Volumes 1, 2 and 3.
Next month Dunbeath Heritage Centre is hosting another weekend of events entitled Light in the North to celebrate the anniversary of Neil M. Gunn's birthday on 8th November.

An old photo of Mackay's Dance Band was found recently by a member of the band Jim Mackay. He got in touch and told us some of the story since 1957 when the band started.

The search to find the winners of this year's Dynamic Place Awards, the only awards in Scotland that recognise the country's leading design, innovation and regeneration projects, has taken a leap forward with the announcement of this year's shortlist of entries. The awards judges have reduced the list of nearly 100 entries down to 26 projects.
