Saturday 24th February sees the Scottish Community Drama Association's 75th District Adult Festival which takes place in The Assembly Rooms, Wick. With entries from both Wick Players and Thurso Players it's sure to make for an entertaining evening.
Music Marathon - Sunday 18 February 2.00 - 7.00pm Every Thursday evening Wick Youth Club's Music-Link-Media offers a 'drop-in' workshop from 6pm to 10pm for young people aged 14 or over which has grown to have an average attendance of 90 members each week. Free tuition is provided in media skills, bass or lead guitar, drumming, harmonica as well as voice coaching.

He stated that there are great benefits in working in partnership to focusing on a particular issue and in working together to solve problems and lobby for change.
Caithness Quilters run monthly workshops and beginners can easily get started by attending them. There is always arange of new projects to work from the simple to the complicated.

Neil Macdoanld from Mill theatre writes..... David Hunter has been working on 'Romeo and Juliet' with his Drama Group at Thurso High School since late October and a special preview performance will take place at 7:30pm on Valentine's Day (Wed 14th February) at Thurso High School.

HIE's investment will focus on creating benefits for the creative industries, cultural tourism initiatives and skills development amongst young people.

Faith Hope and Charity were virtues associated with the Victorian age and for many years a sculpture of the virtues was prominently displayed in Inverness. Now Inverness City Partnership want the public to have their say on three contemporary virtues that can carry the city forward into the 21st century.

The Melvich Gaelic Choir are competing in the Pan Celtic Festival in Derry, Ireland this year and have booked a speical plane from Wick to Derry. The choir fly out on Tuesday 10th April and return on Sunday 15th April 2007 from Wick Airport.

Melvich Gaelic Choir have launched their plans to ensure that the Year of Highland Culture 2007 will be one to remember. They will be representing the North of Scotland at the International Pan Celtic Festival in Letterkenny, Republic of Ireland in April of this year.

The search is on to discover the ultimate Highlands and Islands Icon following the launch of an internet vote by Highland 2007. Hundreds of nominations have flooded in after an initial competition in Scottish Provincial Press titles across the region.

Groam House, the award-winning museum in Rosemarkie, is embarking on an ambitious exhibition project as part of Highland 2007, Scotland's year of Highland Culture. The project will focus on the outstanding work of Highland artist George Bain, who devoted much of his life to the study of the techniques of the ancient Celtic and Pictish artists.

With Highland 2007 now well underway, event organisers are being encouraged to make the most of Scotland's year of Highland culture. Highland 2007 is calling on organisers planning events to add them to the programme for the year ahead.
Anatomy Acts is an exploration of the human body, inside and out. After its successful opening at the City Art Centre, Edinburgh, (5 stars - Scotsman, 'richest, most challenging historic exhibition...in recent years' - Herald) an adapted version of Anatomy Acts is touring to venues across Scotland, coming to the Highlands in January 2007.

The Commonwealth Foundation has announced that the Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards 2007 are now open for application. Artists and crafts people from all commonwealth countries are encouraged to enter the awards, and from mid 2007 as many as ten winners will receive a grant of up to �8,000 to travel and study in another Commonwealth country.
January sees the return of the programme featuring Professional artists to Thurso's Mill Theatre which starts of in style with a celebration of the works of Robert Burns in song and verse. 'The Jolly Beggars and a' That' is an informal performance of a little known but superb musical play (Cantata) by Burns consisting of eight poems and eight songs.
