CAREERS SCOTLAND BRINGS ROCK SCHOOL TO WICK
Free Rock School Workshop Wick Youth Club - for 3 days Monday 28th July until Wednesday 30 July Any young people aged over 13, who have an interest in music and want inspiration, information and motivation to take their interest further. Young people who want to attend don't need to be in a band or a proficient musician but simply have the desire to get involved.8/7/2008
Exhibition Of Contemporary Hand-made Artists' Prints
St Fergus Gallery, Wick 19 July to 16 Aug ~ Highland Printmakers' Exhibition ORIGINAL PRINT - an exhibition of contemporary hand-made artists' prints the Highland Print Studio is bringing to St Fergus Gallery, Wick an exhibition of contemporary artwork celebrating the diversity of work that can be created using traditional printmaking techniques. The exhibition, in collaboration with the Highland Council Exhibitions Unit, contains etchings, screenprints, relief prints and lithographs by artist printmakers based in the Highlands and beyond.7/7/2008
Blas Festival 2008 Launches Cultural Programme
The fastest growing Gaelic and traditional music festival in the UK is about to take to the skies as part of its new programme for 2008. Now a notable fixture on Scotland's cultural calendar, the Blas Festival has announced it will be staging 45 events across the Highlands, including its 'highest ever show' in its smallest 'venue' - a Cessna plane flying at 3000 feet over the region.3/7/2008
Minister Visits Gaelic Drama Summer School
The Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Culture, Linda Fabiani, this week visited a new initiative aimed at offering young Gaelic speakers an opportunity to learn professional theatre skills. The Sgoil Shamhraidh Dhràma is being run by Fèisean nan Gàidheal with support from Eden Court Theatre and Theatre Hebrides.1/7/2008
Highland 2007 Legacy Programme is Launched
The Highland Council has launched the Highland 2007 Legacy Programme, providing an annual fund of £500,000 in grants to build upon the success of Highland 2007. The programme aims to enhance and to promote the events, festivals and cultural programme of the Highlands.21/6/2008
Highland Children's Book Awards
Voted by young readers in the Highlands, the winners of The Highland Council's Children's Book Awards were announced at a ceremony held on Wednesday 18 June in Strathpeffer Pavillion. Winner of the top prize for the Picture Book category was Jackie Morris with "The Snow Leopard".20/6/2008
Fortrose Academy Pupil Is Named Highland Musician of the Year
Cellist Robin Nelson, aged 16 and a pupil at Fortrose Academy is the Highland Young Musician of the Year after winning the competition held on Monday evening at the Drummossie Hotel. Fellow pupil and cellist Stephen Laidlaw was runner up while Nairn pianist, Bethany King , 13 years old was named most promising talent.20/6/2008
ARMY MARCHES INTO CAITHNESS AS PART OF 460 MILE JOURNEY
The Pipers' Trail brings musical spectacle to Thurso, Wick and John O'Groats The Army in Scotland's main effort to mark the centenary of the Territorial Army (TA 100), comes to Wick today (21st June 2008) as part of its 470 mile Pipers' Trail march through Scotland, calling upon all local musicians to join them along the way. This leg of The Trail will began with pipers and drummers coming off the ferry in Thurso yesterday evening (20th June)and proceeding onto Wick where there was piping and drumming workshops and a full musical display.13/6/2008

Caithness Girl In Highland Young Musician of the Year
Five young finalists from Thurso, Fortrose, Nairn and Tain will be competing next week for the title of Highland Young Musician of the Year. Each of the talented musicians will perform solo for 20 minutes in front of an audience and a judging panel at the Drumossie Hotel on Monday 16 June.[Artists]

Bluelight Discos Coming To Caithness
A new kind of disco will be launched in Caithness with the aim of offering youngsters an event that is sociable but safe. No alcohol will be allowed and it is a condition of entry that all youngsters undergo a breathalyser test and search by the police.26/5/2008
