BADBEA - Sent or Went ?
Have you ever wondered why families went to the clearance settlement of Badbea and then decided to up and leave for places such as New Zealand? What were their reasons for going there in the first place and why did they decide to go? Come along to Caithness Archaeological Trust’s (FREE) Homecoming Scotland event on Sunday 25th.  October 2009 A trip is arranged to Badbea to be followed by a sandwich lunch at the Bay Owl Restaurant, Inver, Dunbeath.

Brilliant Young Russian Pianist At Ackergill
North Highland Connections presents "Young Artistes Series" Sasha Gracheva, a 15 year old Russian pianist at Ackergill Tower Our final event of 2009 will be a piano recital at Ackergill Tower by the brilliant 16 year old Russian pianist, Sasha Gracheva, born in 1995 in Moscow.  From age of five she has been studying at Gnessin School of Music for Grifted Children in Russia with Elena Tolkunova, making her debut performances at six, both as a pianist and a composer.

Highland Homecoming "Caithness Voices" An evening of Caithness song and drama.   NHC is partnering with Castlehill Heritage Society and Grey Coast in presenting a public performance in Castletown Drill Hall on Friday, 30 October, at 7:30pm.

Autumn Moonwatch Events
As part of Autumn MoonWatch week, Caithness Astronomy Group will be holding 3 free public events that will include a mix of observing sessions, illustrated talks, displays and interactive exhibits.  Weather permitting, the observing sessions will have telescopes available to allow attendees superbly detailed views of the mountains and craters on the Moon.

BBC To Record "Take The Floor" from Wick - Tickets FREE
BBC Scotland will be recording "Take the floor" with presenter Robbie Shepherd from Wick High School on Tuesday the 27th of October at 7pm.   The Addie Harper Jnr trio will be providing the music for dancing and this recording will have a special Caithness connection as the music performed will be music recorded by the Wick Scottish Dance Band in the 70s & 80s.

CREATIVE DANCE AND MOVEMENT CPD FOR TEACHERS
Inspiring Creativity - Dance in the Curriculum Children, young people and other residents in four Highland communities will soon have the opportunity to participate in an exciting new dance project called Body Currents.   Body Currents is a dynamic workshop and performance programme that will give people the opportunity to participate in dance activities over a nine month period including workshops and classes in and out of school time in the areas around Aviemore, Dornie, Lybster and Fort William.

DRAMA CPD FOR PRIMARY TEACHERS
Dates and times to suit your school and your schools timetable where possible A new pilot CPD course in Drama has been developed for primary school teachers in Highland.   The course has been developed by Highland Council, in partnership with Eden Court Theatre's Out of Eden programme, to provide teachers with the opportunity to learn some drama techniques to implement in the classroom.

HIE Commits Over Half A Million Pounds To Fèisean
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is investing �540,000 to support the development of the popular traditional arts movement, F�isean, across the Highlands and Islands and further afield.   The three year funding package will offer F�isean nan G�idheal, the umbrella organisation which supports the F�isean network, the opportunity to develop a range of new activities across the region.

Caithness Arts - Open Studio Weekend - 26th/27th September 2009 Caithness Arts is holding an "Open Studios" event, during which Artists and Makers based in the Far North will be opening their doors to give the public a rare chance to see inside their working studios.  Many artists will be transforming their homes into mini galleries for the duration of the weekend thus providing a great opportunity to view a wide range of work and allow purchasing direct from the artist.
