Caithness Horizons and North Lands Creative Glass [NLCG] have teamed up regularly since we opened our doors four and a half years ago.  We have hosted presentations by many of the international residency artists who have visited the Lybster centre of excellence in glass since 2009, and audiences have been constantly surprised by the creative inventiveness and technical brilliance NLCG continues to support.

28th January-22nd February Art and Design exhibition - by pupils from Thurso High School 1st-28th February Exhibition of work by Pete Hodgson, Painter and owner of Kirk Gallery, Wick, Caithness Join our exclusive new �Peter�s Pal�s� Young Curator�s Club Sunday 20th January 2013 saw the launch of Caithness Horizons new �Peter�s Pal�s� - Young Curator�s Club with a Penguin-themed workshop delivered by Sandie Robb, Senior Education Officer from The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.   �Peter�s Pal�s� is an exclusive subscription based club for young people aged 8 � 12.

Hot Glass Residency - North Lands Creative Glass

North Lands Creative Glass in Lybster, Caithness is offering a six week residency for four talented artists working in hot glass taking place from 1 April to 10 May 2013.   This opportunity is for artists who have an interest in exploring new forms of making, or ways of working, through collaboration.  

Wave North Pop Up Art Exhibition

Wave North Pop up Art Exhibition - 25th October - 3rd November 2012 The Wave North festival is running again in October this year to coincide with the UK Pro Tour Surfing competition held at Thurso East.   This year as well as the surfing there will be a temporary skate park at Thurso Harbour providing workshops and demonstrations.  

Artists and museums unite to create 'Iconic Places'

Exciting things are afoot at four Scottish museums as they embark upon projects with acclaimed Scottish artists who will draw inspiration from - and cast a new perspective on - their collections and buildings.   These new creative collaborations are the first to be awarded through Iconic Artists in Iconic Places - a collaborative project by Museums Galleries Scotland and Creative Scotland to celebrate Scotland's icons past and present by enabling artists to be inspired by museum collections, historic sites, and Scotland's intangible cultural heritage, also known as living culture.  

The GILLIE MOR 2012 - 29th-31st March

A Celebration in Caithness of Folk Culture Caithness Horizons in Thurso has added The Gillie Mor to the cultural calendar of the Highlands.   Last year saw the emergence of a three-day March festival of talks, books, film, story-telling, folklore, music and poetry which put the spotlight on the life and work of folk icon, Hamish Henderson.
