Fifty four local actors are currently in rehearsal for Caithness's five entries into the Scottish Community Drama Association annual One Act Play Festival. The plays will be publicly adjudicated over the SCDA festival's two nights on 25th and 26th Feb, performing at Thurso High School 7pm What makes this year's festival unique is that each of the two nights performances will feature both youth and adult entries, providing audiences with a variety of entertainment, and insight from adjudicator, Ron Nichol.
A group of pupils from five Highland secondary schools have created an exhibition which is their interpretation of the works of American artist Ed Ruscha. 'Ruscha's Room - Se�mraichean Luchd-ealain' is currently at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery until 12 February 2011.
Swanson Gallery, Thurso exhibits work of acclaimed American artist Ed Ruscha - Major works from Four Decades ARTIST ROOMS on Tour with the Art Fund supported by The Scottish Government Major drawings by Ed Ruscha, one of the most influential and pioneering American artists of the past half-century, will be opening at the Swanson Gallery, Thurso Library on Saturday 15th January until 26th February as part of ARTIST ROOMS, the important new public collection of international post-war and contemporary art that independent charity the Art Fund is helping to tour across the UK. ARTIST ROOMS is jointly owned and managed by National Galleries of Scotland and Tate on behalf of the nation.

The second Art Show got underway on Friday 29th May 2010 when it was opened by local MSP Jamie Stone. The second Latheron Art show has been well supported by a large numberof artists entering their work.
UK country music fans will be able to tune in for live performances from acclaimed national and international country music artists in a new television series, Ce�l Country to be broadcast this month on BBC ALBA. Ce�l Country is a six-part series produced by mneTV to showcase the best music from this year's Caithness Country Music and Creetown Country Music festivals, and will hit our screens from Tuesday 20 October.
Caithness Arts will be presenting a mini 'Festival of Drama' early next month. Grey Coast Theatre Company will be spearheading the festival with a new play from Caithness writer George Gunn.

There will be a prize for the best story and the best picture from age groups Primary 1-2, 3-4 and 5-7 .

The exhibition has been designed by Brodie Nairn and Nicky Burns from Glasstorm in Tain as an innovative installation of closed Cargo boxes, one of which opens every day over the festive period to reveal a new object or contemporary 'souvenir' of the Highlands which travellers to lands across the sea might have cherished to remind them of 'home'.
Thurso Players are busy gearing up for their latest production and, with an onstage cast of 21 along with an offstage support team of 20, it is proving to be a quite a considerable undertaking. Directed by Denise Imrie, 'As You Like It', is a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare written between 1598 and1600 and first published in the folio of 1623.

The competition to find the best 'Monster' story writer from pupils attending primary schools across the North of Scotland has been completed. The competition was launched at the beginning of the year by Graham Winkle the author of 'The Loch Of Mey Monster' and involved entries from Caithness to Aberdeenshire.
Once upon a time a very poor woodcutter lived in a tiny cottage in the forest with his two children, Hansel and Gretel. His second wife often ill-treated the children and was forever nagging the woodcutter.
The beautiful original drawings from the Loch Of Mey Monster series of children's books can be seen in a small exhibition at Jim Bews book shop, Thurso. This set of small, simple yet lovely pictures capture the landscape of Caithness and the age and wonder of the children involved in the stories.
