Fèis Rois To Host Online Traditional Music Festival Next Month Live on Facebook
One of Scotland's leading traditional arts organisations, Fèis Rois, has lined up some of Scotland's top musicians and singers for an online traditional music festival, after having two of its popular annual events cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   Fèis Rois ran its first Adult Fèis in 1990 and sadly had to cancel its 30th anniversary event, which usually takes place in May, due to the pandemic.

Creative Scotland has launched three funding programmes designed to provide further support to sustain the country's creative community during the COVID-19 outbreak: A Creative Scotland Bridging Bursary Fund will help sustain creative practice by freelance creative professionals who have lost earnings due to the cancelation of work as a result of COVID-19.   A parallel Screen Scotland Bridging Bursary Fund will provide similar one-off bursary support to self-employed screen sector workers The Open Fund: Sustaining Creative Development will provide support for individuals and organisations to sustain their creative development in the coming months.

Event Cancellation - The History Of Wick Players
"Wick Players are sorry to announce that due to the restrictions suggested by the government, the talk on the history of the club which was to take place on Thursday 19th March has been CANCELED.  Cancelling is something we would have liked to have avoided, however, due to the ongoing issue of COVID-19 we have taken many point into consideration and have taken on the advice suggested.

Licensing of the public performance of plays The Highland Licensing Committee, at their meeting on 14 January 2020, made their final resolution in relation to the licensing of the public performance of plays under the public entertainment licensing regime after the repeal of the Theatres Act 1968.   This was after the completion of the 28 day statutory consultation period as set out in section 9 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.

The Scottish Government says,"Creative industries are those based on individual creativity, skill and talent, or which have the potential to create wealth and jobs through the development or production of intellectual property." "In Scotland our creative industries comprise over 15,000 businesses employing more 70,000 people, in addition to a large number of freelancers as well as students studying creative courses.  Together they make an important contribution to our national wealth and international reputation." Scotland's creative industries contribute more than £5 billion to the Scottish economy every year.
