Young performers prepare for Scottish première
To celebrate WWF-UK's 50th anniversary this year, the environmental charity has commissioned a new musical which will have its Scottish première in Aviemore on Saturday 19th November during a day featuring 300 young Highland musicians performing in three concerts.   Taking centre stage will be young musicians and singers from all over the Highlands who form the Highland Youth Orchestra and Youth Choir.

Aliens fly in for Halloween Show
The 2011 Inverness Festivals Winter programme starts Friday 28th October with an event that is expected to see hundreds of children in costume heading to the banks of the River Ness in order to save their city.   "Alien Invasion - Close Encounters of the UFO" will be staged on Ness Islands from 6.30pm until 8.30pm for two nights (Friday 28th and Saturday 29th) and will feature the creative talents of Eden Court Theatre's Outreach Team, Arts in Motion and The Highland Council's Lighting Department and over 100 performers.

Dedication service marks return of The Three Virtues - Faith Hope and Charity The return to Inverness of the Three Virtues' statues - Faith Hope and Charity - is being marked with a special ecumenical church service on Saturday 22 October at Ness Bank Church of Scotland, starting at 2 pm.   The 9ft tall statues, each weighing 4.2 tonnes, have been installed on to separate stone plinths with a stone facing at Ness Bank Gardens between Ness Bank and Castle Road.

Highland LEADER Programme on target
Since 2007 the Highland LEADER Programme has supported 300 community projects across the Highlands to the tune of just over £13 million.  The focus of the programme has now turned from commitment to spend.

Highland communities encouraged to apply for Creative Places Awards
Communities in The Highland Council area are being encouraged to apply for the Creative Scotland investment opportunity called Creative Places Awards.   The Creative Places Awards are part of Creative Scotland's new investment programme over the coming three years, beginning with the Year of Creative Scotland in 2012.
