A group of Caithness youngsters spent the first week of their Easter holiday working on a music project about the Pentland Firth, the world-famous tidal channel between Orkney and Caithness.   Over the years, the RNLI has often been called out from Thurso and Wick, as well as Longhope, Kirkwall & Stromness to deal with emergencies caused by the ferocious sea conditions in this part of Scotland.

'A moment in time', an exhibition of work by two Latheronwheel artists got off to a flying start at the North Lands Creative Glass gallery at Quatre Bras, Lybster on Friday evening.   A collection of paintings by Jane McDonough and photographic prints by Angus Mackay proved a big attraction, with over 100 people attending the preview night.

Seven families joined The Highland Council's North Caithness Ranger Paul Castle the at the Seadrift Visitor Centre in Dunnet Bay Caithness and had great fun decorating Easter eggs.   Using blown chicken eggs and paints, pens and feathers the kids designed their very own Easter decorations.

HIE announces three-year funding boost to Fèisean nan Gàidheal
Fèisean nan Gàidheal will continue to play a key role in the continuing development of traditional music and Gaelic arts as Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) announces funding of £480,000 for the next three years.   In partnership with Creative Scotland, Ḅrd na Gàidhlig, and local authorities, HIE's investment will help the fèisean movement improve and build upon the success it has generated over the last 30 years.

On Sunday 25 March 2012 all eight Highland Regional Music Groups took centre stage during a full day of concerts held at Eden Court Theatre.   The 300 plus talented musicians came from all over the Highlands, and such is their growing reputation that they played to full houses, receiving very appreciative and rousing applause from the audiences.
