‘Dreich’ tops poll as nation’s favourite Scots word
Ahead of Burns Night on 25th January, a new poll has revealed ‘dreich’ as Scotland’s favourite word in the Scots language.   The You Gov survey* asked adults across the country to select their number one Scots word from a list of options including some of Robert Burns’ own favourites.

Burns baptism record on public display
The original parish register recording the birth of Robert Burns is being specially displayed by the National Records of Scotland to mark the anniversary of his birth on January 25, 1759.   It’s the first time in many years that the rarely-seen record has been publicly displayed.

New support for young people to gain vocational qualifications and to work in the arts and creative industries 80 paid graduate internships and up to 23 Modern Apprenticeships to take place thanks to new Youth Employment Programme.   Young entrepreneurs also supported.
