Traditional Music Classes - Clasaichean Ceòl Traidiseanta Inbhir Nis

The Highland Council is inviting people of all ages to join in traditional music, song and dance classes which are currently taking place in Inverness until the 24 November 2011

Places are still available in some of the 10-week series of classes which start on Monday 5 September Twenty three classes are taking place in four different venues in Inverness area with some 200 people of all ages enjoying tuition.

A taster session will be on Tuesday 30th August in Crown Primary School from 7-8.30pm for people to come and try, fiddle, mandolin, whistle, banjo and guitar.

Councillor Bill Fernie, Chairman of The Highland Council's Education, Culture and Sport Committee said: "The Inverness Traditional Music Classes are great way for children and adults to learn an instrument or to take up song and dance through our Scottish culture. Inverness TMC is a fantastic opportunity to take part in friendly and structures classes which enable students to discover and foster their musical talents."

Classes are being offered in fiddle, whistle, chanter, accordion, bodhran, piping, guitar, mandolin, keyboard and ceilidh dancing.

The monthly Informal Sessions are held on the last Saturday of the month from 2-4pm at Millburn Academy for players of all ability. Places are available at the classes and the sessions
