The closing date for entries for Am Mod Niseanta Roghail - The Royal National M'd - 2010 is the 31st May 2010.

Entries are coming in thick and fast and Mod organisers, An Comunn Gidhealach, are busy preparing for this year's event, which is being held in Caithness for the first time.

Many entries have already been received and it is expected there will be a flurry of activity from those completing their entries and submitting them before the closing date. Anyone, of any age, wishing to enter the various competitions which includes piping, accordion, fiddle, instrumental and folk groups, can do so. Information on entry details can be found on www.acgmod.org or telephone 01463 709705.

Janet MacDonald, Royal National Mod Director said," It is important that competitors return their entry forms on time. If entries are received after the 31st May we will not be able to accept them. We would also like to remind competitors that if they are submitting their own choice of music pieces, these must be with us by 30th June."

Raymond Bremner, Convenor of the Local Organising Committee, said "It is good to see the response so far to the competitions and we are delighted to see lots of local groups and individuals from the area step forward and take part in this year's event. We have a wealth of talent in this area and this event gives them a platform to showcase their talents."

While the area is embracing the prospect of hosting this prestigious event, Raymond added "There is still a lot to be done and we are actively trying to get the message out to everyone what to expect when the Mod arrives in Caithness."

An Comunn Gidhealach's President, John MacLeod said "This is a wonderful opportunity for Caithness. Every year we see considerable interest in Mod competitions, especially amongst the younger generation of competitors. This event provides a window of opportunity for a range of talented people and allows the Gaelic world to celebrate its language and culture. I'm certain everyone who visits will enjoy the Caithness experience."
