Have you ever wondered how thrilling it would be to come face-to-face with a Martian? Or how about Darth Vader, or even The Predator? Well, visitors will find out when they attend the remarkable one-off Invasion exhibition, coming to both Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and the Swanson Gallery in Thurso in May.

Invasion brings together an army of famous, and infamous, aliens and monsters from Hollywood's biggest sci-fi blockbusters. The collection of fabulous movie props and costumes is guaranteed to scare and thrill.

On show will be a number of creatures from the massive hit film Aliens, which starred Sigourney Weaver. And it's not just the ordinary aliens; visitors will have the opportunity to get close to the queen alien and the terrifying "face hugger" - if they dare.

Amongst the array of weird and wonderful will be a Bigfoot head which was created by Nimba creations, whose reputation is legendary in this field of work

However, full size Martians from Mars Attack and the horrific alien host from the X-files movie aside, there are some cute aliens, too. The cuddly Ewok will be there along with Jawas, Yoda and Chewbacca from Star Wars. But be warned, there is also an early Darth Vader costume and a storm trooper or two hanging around, though Marvin the Martian should keep things in order.

Star attraction has to be the massive transporter spaceship model from the opening scene of the Lost In Space movie.

The Highland Council's Exhibitions Officer Cathy Shankland said: "Thousands of people across the country have already flocked to see the exhibition on its tour. We hope that people in the Highlands will be equally enthralled and also perhaps a little frightened. Believe me, staring into The Predator's eyes is an unsettling experience."

The Invasion props exhibition runs at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery from 1st May to the 29th May. The Invasion Costumes will be on display from 1 May at the Swanson Gallery, Thurso until 29 May. Admission to both exhibitions is free of charge.
