TORE Art Gallery Visit us this Easter Weekend

30th March 2010

Ready for the new season!

The gallery re-opens on Good Friday (2nd April) with a fresh new look and an impressive display of newly-created work from Highland Artists and some from further afield. Our regular artists have clearly been working hard over the long cold winter and the results are tremendous - thanks and congratulations to them!

Our website www.tore-art-gallery.co.uk is up to date and will show you what is happening at the gallery. Our big news is that we are soon to have a brand new "trading" website (made by Plexus Media of Cromarty), for which we have received much appreciated funding from the Scottish Arts Council, in conjunction with the Own Art Scheme. "Own Art", as you know, enables the purchase of original works of art at 0% interest over 10 months (see website for details).

We have an exciting gallery programme planned for 2010, and I'll be keeping you all informed. The first main event is on the afternoon of Saturday April 24th, the opening of an exhibition of paintings by Denise Davis entitled (sic) "aCross the Carpathians". Denise was inspired by her recent travels in Romania to explore in paint the spiritual themes she found in what remains of Orthodox churches in this wild and fascinating country. I'll send you more details nearer the time.

In the summer there will be a Highlands Open Studios week, and a major exhibition unveiling new directions from both Fiona Matheson and Clare Blois.

On 21st May Graham Clark will give an illustrated talk on the turbulent history of Redcastle, following the publication of his book on the subject. Concerts are also in the planning stage.

Meanwhile we look forward to seeing old friends and new at Tore Art Gallery this Easter. As well as our new exhibition, there's a Spring Sale of greetings cards and various bits and pieces, to make way for new ranges of ceramics and crafts - I particularly want to expand our variety in this direction.

And, at last, because you all keep asking, there'll be refreshments available in the gallery on a permanent basis. It'll be simple "do it yourself" for a donation in the charity box, and some home baking if you're lucky, but given the lack of a coffee shop in the Tore area, I hope you'll find the idea inviting!

Opening hours are 10.30 to 4.30, closed Tuesdays and Sundays, but OPEN ON EASTER SUNDAY.

You can also see paintings from Tore Art Gallery at INVERNESS AIRPORT and at the DAIRY CAFE at Daviot (a great place for coffee or lunch).

Thank you for supporting our gallery in the past and hopefully in the future, and if you would rather not receive my occasional e-mails, newsletters and invitations, just reply to this one saying "no thanks" and I'll take you off my newly-organised list.

Best regards

Clare Blois

P.S. Trendy art-lovers can also become a fan of Tore Art Gallery on Facebook! (Apparently this is the latest thing to do, but I admit to not having quite grasped the concept as yet ..... and I still think Twittering is what those annoying birds do outside my window in the early hours)
