THE MILL THEATRE PROJECT - Needs Your Vote

Have you ever queued in the rain outside Thurso's Mill Theatre and then found an area congested by people trying to get to the Auditorium, the Lounge, the Box Office or the Toilets? Read on to see how you can help to resolve this problem.

The National Lottery People's Millions is coming to the STV area in November. Thurso Players' application for improvements to the town's Mill Theatre has been shortlisted and will go 'head to head' with a similar project in the television company's transmission area during the week of 23rd November.

Our plan is to build an extension to the building which, in addition to providing a new main entrance, will also feature a Disabled Backstage Dressing Area which will accommodate those actors who, through physical impairment, are unable to climb the stairway to the main dressing area.

The extension will also provide a much needed toilet facility for the second floor dressing room. Ask any one of our members what it's like to be in the dressing room or backstage with a cast of 30 very nervous children, in costume and ready to go on stage but cannot use the only toilets, which are in the public waiting area, until such time as the audience are seated in the auditorium. A toilet in the dressing room would certainly relieve the pressure in more ways than one!

So how can you help? It's quite simple really; all you need do is watch the STV programme at 5.30pm on 24th November, take note of the relevant telephone number and call in to record your vote.
