MUSIC FANS CAN ENJOY T IN THE PARK 2009 ON BBC ALBA

BBC ALBA is delighted to announce today (Friday) that it will be broadcasting two bespoke programmes from this year's T in the Park music festival.

The two, ninety minute music specials will be broadcast on BBC ALBA during the festival weekend on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July, from 6pm - 7.30pm.

The programmes will include highlights from the festival's main stage as well as covering some of the acoustic performances from the new BBC Three InTimate Stage. This will give the TV audience the chance to enjoy exclusive backstage performances and unique collaborations between some of the top acts featured at the festival.

Popular BBC ALBA presenters, Calum MacAulay and Siobhan MacInnes will host the shows from T in the Park, providing an eclectic music package that will also include interviews with some of the main acts featured across the weekend.

Alan Esslemont, head of content for BBC ALBA said: "We are delighted that BBC ALBA will be providing two very exciting programmes from this year's T in the Park festival. The festival is Scotland's much loved and most successful, with world-wide appeal and our coverage will provide a huge boost to the channel's already extremely popular and diverse music offering.

"For festival fans who aren't attending the event, we are offering a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the best of the festival at peak evening times."

Saturday's programme will show the best of the festival from Friday night and some early Saturday performances and Sunday's programme will show highlights from Saturday and early acts from the final day of the festival.

The three-day sell-out event which takes place in Balado, Kinross-shire, from Friday 10 -Sunday 12 July, has an impressive line-up of top acts for 2009 including Main Stage headliners Kings of Leon, The Killers, Blur and Snow Patrol as well as other big name performers such as Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Nine Inch Nails, Keane, The View, Manic Street Preachers and Pet Shop Boys amongst many more.

BBC ALBA is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110.
