Following the news that the 2005 Orkney Blues Festival would be the last in the County the Orkney Blues Committee was established in 2006 to maintain an annual blues event in Orkney. Made up of local blues enthusiasts and supported by local businesses, the committee strives to provide a weekend of blues music to suit most tastes.

With the exception of the finale event on the Sunday night entry is free to all performances. This would not have been possible without local sponsorship. The following
businesses have supported this years event, so please give them your full support.

ARTISTES
Supporting the great line-up of visiting artistes this year are local acts Ms Noma & Mr Ree, Smokestack, Mean Business and Superego. Smokestack and Mean Business
are well known locally for their own brand of blues music and probably need no introduction. Superego are a taste of up and coming talent in the county well known on the youth band circuit and are preparing a set just for this weekend.

The After Hours Blues Review (all ten of them) from Caithness almost qualify as a local act and so deserve a mention too. They went down a storm during their visit to Orkney earlier this year. Expect to hear numbers from the great days of the 1950's and 60's including 'Blueberry Hill', 'Let's Work Together', 'Sea Cruise' and Tutti

Gerry Jablonski
The legendary Gerry Jablonski needs no introduction as he's a well known figure on the blues circuit appearing regularly at blues venues and festivals the length and breadth of the country. His unique style of guitar playing, blending electro acoustic guitar with a loop pedal is a must see event. Gerry performs a lot of his own material and you can also expect to hear a few numbers from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Cream, Bowie and The Whothrown in for good measure. A great performer don't miss him.

Blues On Tap
Formed in February 2004 and building a solid following around Scotland this four piece Blues / Rock powerhouse thrive on live gigs. Their inspiration comes from some of the great British blues acts of the 60s Peter Green , John Mayall, Howlin Wolf, Elmore James, Freddie King etc.Throw in a few classic rock numbers from Free,
Whitesnake and Cream; and you've got BLUES ON TAP.

Son Henry
Hailing from the Alaskan Frontier, the Right Reverend Son Henry is a triple thread on Guitar, Lap Steel and Blues Harp. Called "a legendary guitarist" by Music Journalist Mark Dudick, he's also been blessed with a strong singing voice and the ability to write songs that sound decades old. If you imagine a cross between Kelly Joe Phelps and Jeff Healey you've got the picture.

Bluebelly
Bluebelly are Dougie Burns and Bobby McDonald, a musical partnership founded in Inverness in 2003. Dougie, plays acoustic guitar and sings songs of lust, drink and hangovers, betrayal, loneliness and broken guitar strings. Bobby alternating between double bass and delta (Moray Firth) slide guitar lightens the mood with his cheerful tunes about dead poets, industrial wasteland and nuclear holocaust. "That'll be the blues
then". http://www.bluebelly.force9.co.uk/
