Ciarán Foy’s debut feature film urban horror flick CITADEL is released this Friday 12 July 2013. Written and directed by Ciarán Foy, based on his own personal experiences of agoraphobia, CITADEL features rising star Aneurin Barnard alongside prolific Scottish actor James Cosmo, Wunmi Mosaku and Jake Willson. The film is produced by Brian Coffey of Glasgow-based Production company Sigma Films.

Citadel is an Irish/Scottish co-production by Blinder Films and Sigma Films, and is financed by the Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and Creative Scotland

A Creative Scotland spokesperson commented: 'We are delighted that Citadel will be released in cinemas in Scotland, where Scottish audiences will get to enjoy this stylish and truly scary horror. Working in partnership with UK distributor Metrodome, Sigma will provide a richer experience of the film with preview screenings and question and answer sessions with the filmmakers, creating a real buzz around the film's release.'

SYNOPSIS
The dilapidated suburbia of Edenstown casts a shadow over Tommy Cowley’s life. Trapped there by his agoraphobia since his wife was fatally attacked by twisted feral children, he now finds himself terrorized by the same mysterious hooded gang, who seem intent on taking his baby daughter.

Torn between the help of an understanding nurse and a vigilante priest, he discovers that to be free of his fears, he must finally face the demons of his past and enter the one place that he fears the most...the abandoned tower block known as the CITADEL.

Sigma is producing David Mackenzie's Starred Up starring Jack O Connell, Ben Mendelsohn and Rupert Friend and is co-producing Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin starring Scarlett Johanssen.

Preparing its slate for production this year, Colin Kennedy’s Swung and Catherine Linstrum's Greenland Time.
