Hit The Ground Running at Kingussie Food on Film
Training course date: Friday 1st February 2013

This course first ran at goNORTH in 2012 and felt that it went so well we are doing it again. Our friends at Kingussie Food on Film Festival are keen to facilitate so ScreenHI would like to take notes of interest now.

This course is specifically designed for participants who want to break into film and television drama. The one day intensive training course consists of a series of practical exercises, which will equip individuals with the knowledge, tools and experience to help them break into the film and television industry. Devised and tutored by industry professionals, the course focuses on entry level positions in drama production and specifically the role of the Runner. It’s very informal and a lot of fun too.

Designed for people at the start of their career who have been trying to get a foot in the door and secure their first job, as well as those with a couple of credits looking to improve their professional practice and fill the gaps in their understanding of how it all works.

Following the course on Friday 1st February 2013, they are inviting all the participants to practise their newly learned skills at some of the events across the festival on Saturday 2nd February 2013. Drop ScreenHI a note of interest in advance of the application process opening in the New Year – contact them on info[AT]screenhi.co.uk

Abagail Grey Release New EP and Video

Highland based singer-songwriter Abagail Grey recently launched her new EP, Snowflake Remember, with an intimate performance at Velocity Cafe in Inverness. The event also showcased the developing creative relationship between the artist and Highland filmmaker Tristan Aitchison, with the latter directing the video for focus track, Beauty.

The EP was produced by long-term collaborators Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) and Tony Doogan (Snow Patrol, Teenage Fanclub).

Campbell and Aitchison have both been involved with a number of our projects and we are delighted to see the continuation of this exciting partnership.

Snowflake Remember is available now from: www.abagailgrey.com

A Winter Story

How do you keep your creative cockles warm over Winter? Does sitting by the fire playing your guitar inspire songwriting? Is getting up at dawn on a frosty morning worth it for that sunrise shot? Perhaps baking clears your head and fills your belly ready for writing that script? Whatever it is share your inspiration by taking a photo and be part of the creative community wherever you are.

goNORTH are going to tell a story (or stories) through pictures, sharing online and showcasing at their annual creative industries festival goNORTH on the 5th & 6th June 2013 in Inverness. As they gather and Storify your pictures they’ll give you sneak previews of some collections of entries in the lead up to the festival and afterwards they will showcase all the stories online.

What do you need to do? Take a photo and within the photo we want to see three words that, along with your image, sum up what inspires you creatively. That’s it! All you need to do is add the all important hashtag #awinterstory and post to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Get involved and be part of the story.
