Scottish Traditional Music Graded Exams - Can You Help?

15th May 2006

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) Traditional Music Grade Exams project team is working hard to ensure the new exams fit with what musicians and their teachers need. Can you help them refine the graded exams by taking part in their research.

Madeleine Stafford says - "As we fine-tune the syllabuses and timetabling for the pilot phase in September, a major market survey is being made through the summer to determine - roughly - how many of you would like to take a Scottish traditional music graded exam, and how best the graded exams can work in partnership with the educational establishment. Are you a learner, or the parent of one? Are you a practising musician, or a tutor, a classroom teacher, an instrumental instructor or a Local Authority music manager? Please log on to www.rsamd.ac.uk/research/trad to take part - it's brief, but important, and we could use your help!"

You'll also find an update on the graded exams' pilot phase in September, and plans for consultations on Gaelic and Scots song syllabuses. It's all happening at www.rsamd.ac.uk/research/trad
