GABBRO play Y-Not

Gabbro is a rock type; found within the Cuillin Range on the Isle of Skye. The band formed with its original line up 2 years ago and regularly played on the island, hence the name. With a fresh new line up forming in Spring 2014 with original Fiddle Player Rachel Campbell to carry it on; the group has continued to perform in the west coast in Skye, Mallaig, Strontian and Inverness and more.

After a busy summer each doing our own musical projects & festivals we are now looking forward to a number of performances throughout Autumn including Blas, Jocktober Fest and currently planning our winter tour of Germany. It is certainly the beginning of something great. We strive to create a great atmosphere and get everyone on their feet dancing; in order to entertain us too! We like to include some aspects of Gaelic song and include the well-known songs for our audiences to sing their hearts out to.

The music kicks off at 8pm with 3 young Caithness musicians that have been mentored through MusicPlus in Glasgow by the drummer, Andy Williamson, just one example of the many workshops run by Andy for young, local musicians. After their mentoring process this will be an opportunity to experience what they have learnt in theory.
