At a time when the NHS has been much challenged, we open our season with a play set against the backdrop of the tainted blood products scandal affecting thousands of haemophiliacs worldwide. Factor 9 is a visceral horror story of human survival and a cry for justice in the face of a medical industrial nightmare. Dogstar reunites the creators of The Tailor of Inverness to present a vibrant new production and a story which cries out to be told.
This production is a World Premiere by Dogstar Theatre Company in association with Profilteatern and Umea 2014.
The play was written by Hamish MacDonald inspired by the testimonies of Bruce Norval and Robert Mackie.

From the brutal Arkansas penal system to the isolated voices of survivors in Scotland, this searing piece uses a bold theatricality, reaching into the roots of the tragedy and the outbreak of the AIDS epidemic in America.
Using testimony, transcripts, articles, reports and documentary evidence, two actors present a multi-media performance dominated by that vital fluid, blood, exploring everyday human experience and how lives were changed forever.

Lyth Arts Centre Look To The Future Following Funding Award
Worries over the financial outlook for Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) have been eased for the time being after the venue was awarded £97,000 in Scottish Government funding. The sum - from the Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund - represents the full figure requested by co-directors Charlotte Mountford and Tom Barnes, who say the money secures LAC's short-term future up to the end of March next year.
