Brass Band Repertoire Day Inverness

The Scottish Brass Band Association are delighted to report on a new initiative to promote brass bands in Inverness. Master-minded by Mark Bell, a ‘Brass Band Repertoire Day’ will take place on Saturday 22nd June between 10.00am – 3.00pm at Culloden Academy, Inverness. The event which will be led by Glenn Munro, Musical Director of Moray Concert Brass, is designed to welcome brass and percussion players from all across the Highlands for a day of brass band repertoire music making.

Players of all brass band instruments and standard percussion who are at a standard equivalent to Grade 5 or above are warmly invited to participate and the organisers are also happy to make special arrangements for any bass clef readers who wish to get involved.

It is hoped that this innovative Brass Band Repertoire Day will encourage players to come together and generate enthusiasm from the run-throughs with a view to forming a new Highland brass band based in Inverness.

Andrew Duncan, Development Manager for SBBA commented: “This is a wonderful initiative and one which not only brings players together for a great day of music, but also has such huge potential to create a much needed new band in the Highlands. Mark’s enthusiasm and innovative approach to generate an interest from players who have no access to a local brass band really is to be commended – he’s combining a fun day with good prospects for the creation of a new band in the area. By involving as many players as possible from across the Highlands he’s opening up a new opportunity for brass enthusiasts of all ages. The event is sure to be a great success and we look forward to its outcome.”
